Don't Worry, Be Healthy

Day 35

So today Is the 5 week mark on my weightloss/healthy lifestyle journey and I couldn’t be more happy with my choices and results. When I did my weekly weigh-in today I was pleased to find out that I have reached my -10lb weightloss goal!!! Meaning I can now purchase a new pair of sunglasses, as per my weight loss goal chart.

There isn’t much for me to say at this point about my journey, except that I suffered from a knee injury this past week making it impossible to do level 3 of the 30 day shred unfortunately (damn you Jillian and your high knee impact workouts!). But i digress, I have been taking it easy the past four days and just trying to rest up so I can start on my next exercise goal which is running. I have been doing a lot of research on how to become a runner and what precautions I need to take with my bad knees and history of shin splints to ease my way into this kind of activity and I think I will be able to accomplish this. I just remember when I was younger, about 7 years ago, when I could just run and run and not get out of breath and just enjoy life and I would love to be able to get back to that level of fitness because I will be able to play all the sports that I love again. Speaking of sports, in high school I played rugby for 5 years and absolutely loved it! But when I came to university I was embarrassed by my waning fitness level and didn’t want to try out for the university team because I was afraid of failing. This summer I hope to get back into good enough shape to be able to rejoin a rugby team because the sport is something I love and many of my fondest memories from high school happened on the pitch.

And I guess that’s it for this entry. I hope everyone in the fitblr community is still working hard at their goals and having a ball living their active and healthy lives! I love looking at my dashboard and seeing all the motivating pictures and all the people I follow having such success!

This is a craft I made today after seeing it on the fitblr Journey of Curves. The left is how many pounds I have left to lose and the right has the pounds that I have already lost. This visual representation will hopefully motivate me to continue on this journey :)

Day 28

I find that I am always on tumlbr but am never posting… this should change considering it makes me so motivated to work out whenever I come on here. Anyway….

So here we are at the 4 week mark of my new healthy lifestyle.. which is absolutely crazy to me because I don’t even notice the weeks flying by. I have my 4th weigh in tomorrow and I am pretty nervous about it because on St. Patrick’s day I went a little too hard if you know what I mean. I.e. binge eating pancakes, pizza, and wings, and then binge drinking copious amounts of beer and various alcoholic beverages. I am not proud of this moment but the day after I hopped right back on the wagon and have eaten healthy for the rest of the week. Drinking all of that alcohol did make me notice that I was extremely bloated and my stomach looked huge compared to normal so I worked really hard to drink lots of water to get rid of the bloating and now it has subsided. I feel like in my weigh-in I won’t lose any weight because of how terrible Monday went. It’s sad but true.

I also start the 30 day shred level 3 tomorrow and I am pretty nervous about that as well considering I still find level 2 pretty challenging. I cannot wait until this whole shred is over and I can finally say that I completed the 30 day shred! It is so amazing that I have been able to stick to this lifestyle for four weeks when I usually would quit in the past after four days!

Cheers everyone and good luck with your journeys!

Day 17

Today marks day 17 of my new healthier lifestyle and I am truly amazed at how fast those days can fly by. The first couple of days were quite daunting but now it is just easy for me to make healthier choices and I have even convinced my mother to come along this journey with me.
On day 7 I started doing Jillian Michaels’ 30 day shred and today I have just completed level 1! I feel pretty accomplished and even pushed myself a little harder than usual just as a final hurrah! I also added some cardio today in the form of the game Just Dance 3 for the Wii console. I played it for 40 minutes with my housemate and I was extremely surprised at what a workout that game can be.
Now I am about to cook myself a delicious dinner of chicken parmesan because myfitnesspal says that I need to eat a lot of calories from burning so many and I am not complaining!

I am so happy that I am keeping track of my progress on this blog and if anyone else is at the start of their journey and would like to follow along that would be amazing! I am always looking for some fitblr companions :)

Something to keep in mind…

Day 16

Haven’t posted on here in a while…. but that’s because I have been so busy keeping motivated and doing the right things for my body! I had my cheat meal on Saturday and it was a great Canadian Angus burger from Harvey’s. Boy did I ever feel awful after that.. and that even adds to my motivation because I know now that I feel awful after eating crap and feel great after eating healthy food! I did my Monday weekly weigh-in yesterday and was proud to see that I had lost another three pounds in the last week putting me at a total weight-loss of 6 pounds so far. I know that doesn’t sound like much but to me it really is and that’s all that matters.

I am also on day 9 of the 30 day shred and level one is easy now compared to last week where I was huffing and puffing after level one! About two weeks ago when I first started healthy eating and exercise I took a “before” picture and it was a little discouraging to see how much I had let myself go. But today I took a picture in the exact same outfit and my stomach was visibly smaller! Such Motivation! I am revving to do my workout after this post because I can visibly see that I am improving my body! I can’t wait until 2 months from now when I can look back at these blog posts and see how far I’ve come.

I will not give up. I will be strong!

Day 10

Today was a good day for me. I ate really healthy all day and felt really good until it came to just after dinner when I started to crave sweets. However, I knew that I was not hungry, given that I literally had just finished a delicious dinner and so I was most certainly not hungry. But still all my brain could think about was chocolate… So I made a concoction called nice cream to eat later tonight.

Recipe for “Nice” Cream:

Serves 1 —— approx. 300 cal.

Ingredients:
2 frozen bananas
2 tbsp of dark chocolate almond milk
1 tbsp of low fat peanut butter

Method:
1) before freezing your bananas you should break them into 1-2 inch long pieces so they will be easier to blend.
2) Once bananas are completely frozen through put all of the ingredients in a blender or a magic bullet.
3) Blend ingredients until they are a thick soft serve ice cream texture

And there you have it! “Nice” cream. The best thing about this recipe is it tastes just like chocolate peanut butter ice cream but it is healthy and vegan! I highly recommend this tasty treat for anyone who suffers from a sweet tooth!
